Our Story

Founded in 2018 by Angela Mallett, HoneyBee Sage Wellness & Apothecary emerged from a deep passion for holistic healing and a commitment to making wellness accessible to everyone. What began as a vision to create a space where natural remedies and community care intersect has grown into a beloved Milwaukee institution.

From our original location at 1819 North Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Drive in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, we have been serving our community with dedication, care, and an unwavering belief in the healing power of plants. Angela's expertise as an herbalist and tea alchemist shines through in every carefully curated product and thoughtfully crafted blend.

As we prepare to open our second location in Milwaukee's Third Ward in September 2025, we remain true to our founding principles: wellness is a right, not a privilege, and healing happens best in community.

About the Founder

Angela Mallett

Angela Mallett is the visionary founder of HoneyBee Sage Wellness & Apothecary and The Healing Café. Known as a "professional space holder," Angela has dedicated her life to creating safe, healing-centered environments where people can reconnect with themselves and their communities. Her charismatic warmth and grounding presence have made HoneyBee Sage a beloved sanctuary in Milwaukee.

With over 11 years in health and wellness, Angela brings a wealth of expertise as a certified massage therapist, reiki healer, full-circle doula, and yoni steam practitioner. Her journey into natural healing began after a difficult medical event that opened her eyes to the transformative power of holistic wellness and plant medicine.

Angela's path has taken her from Milwaukee to Mississippi to Nashville, and back home again—each stop enriching her understanding of healing traditions and community care. HoneyBee Sage was born in the Sherman Phoenix marketplace, a hub for Black entrepreneurship on Milwaukee's north side, before growing into the beloved MLK Drive café location.

At HoneyBee Sage, Angela has cultivated a unique offering: alcohol-free herbal cocktails, medicinal teas, healing tools, and a space rooted in love, community, and empowerment. The decision to create an alcohol-free environment was deeply personal—influenced by her father's story and her commitment to providing a truly healing space for everyone who walks through the doors.

Her guiding philosophy is simple yet profound: "Spread Love." Angela believes that healing happens when people feel validated, supported, and genuinely connected. Every tea blend, every conversation, and every community gathering at HoneyBee Sage is infused with this intention—creating spaces where wellness is accessible, authentic, and transformative.

Our founder, Angela Mallett, envisions HoneyBee Sage as a prototype for other entrepreneurs interested in herbalism and holistic wellness. The Third Ward location allows us to explore how we can serve a larger market while maintaining the warm, welcoming, and culturally competent space we're known for.

This milestone was made possible through our Project Pitch It grand prize win, strategic partnerships with Milwaukee County's Building Bridges grant program, and support from the African American Chamber of Commerce. We're grateful for the community support that continues to fuel our growth.
